JDPCI Abuja makes effort to end deforestation and promote environmental regeneration through the use of eco-friendly briquette charcoal.

As part of JDPCI effort to end deforestation and promote environmental regeneration through the use of eco-friendly briquette charcoal, the Archbishop of Abuja Archdiocese, Most Rev Dr. Ignatius Kaigama in a ceremony attended by donors, partners, representatives from MDAs, laity, and clergy of the Archdiocese of Abuja successfully commissioned the Laudato Si Briquette Charcoal Factory at Our Lady of Fatima Parish Sheda Kwali Area Council. The Sheda community of Kwali Area Council played host to the Archbishop and other dignitaries present to unveil the factory. In his speech, the Archbishop maintained that all hands must be on deck to encourage afforestation. After the opening prayer by the Executive Director JDPCI, Rev. Fr. Solomon Uko, and a resounding welcome address by the Chairman of JDPCI, Sir Josephat Abaagu, goodwill messages were received from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, CAFOD, Abuja Province – Church and Society Unit, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Zumunta Mata, and Dean of Gwagwalada Deanery. In their messages, they all lauded the initiative of the Archdiocese of Abuja, Justice Development and Peace Caritas Initiative and pledged to collaborate with JDPCI to continuously promote environmental regeneration and protection and to save the earth through ecological conversion of resources.
A lucid project overview was given by the Programs Director, Timothy Ejeh, stating that the project goal was to ensure an Improved livelihood for all especially women & youth and to promote environmental sustainability by utilizing eco-friendly briquettes as a renewable energy source.
thereafter, His Grace and other guests were taken on a demonstration tour on how the briquette machines work and its efficiency and capacity.

In his usual style of sacrificing all to support his flock, His Grace, Archbishop Ignatius A. kaigama donated briquette charcoals and stoves to a mammoth crowd of Zumunta Mata and CWO at the occasion. This act of charity was well appreciated by the women who sang in Joy as the event drew to a close.
