HISTORIC INAUGURATION OF THE GBV TECHNICAL WORKING COMMITTEE IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF ABUJA
Today, His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius A. Kaigama, OFR, Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, inaugurated the Archdiocesan Technical Working Committee on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention.

This important committee is chaired by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Sanni PhD. and Mr. Timothy Ejeh serves as Secretary, with other distinguished members drawn from key Archdiocesan commissions and groups; JDPCI, Family and Human Life Commission, CMO, CWO, CYON, Laity Council, Religious Formation Houses, and the Seminary.
Notably, Barr. Eric Umoru and Mrs. Susan Agada serve as GBV and Social Protection Experts.
The committee’s mandate is clear: to prevent, respond to, and manage GBV cases within the Archdiocese of Abuja.
In his address, His Grace decried the long-standing culture of silence around GBV and called for decisive action to break it. He then entrusted the committee to the maternal care of the Blessed Virgin Mary and imparted his blessings for a fruitful mission.
We sincerely appreciate Caritas Nigeria for facilitating this process with funding support from the Ford Foundation.
